Overview
The Patrol is an icon. In a region steeped in tradition, yet steered by the future, the Patrol is the perfect combination of heritage and prestige with purpose. Conquering the elements comes as second nature to an SUV whose reputation and authority is equaled only by its legendary V8 power. A fresh new look makes its presence even more unmistakable. The Patrol is a legend, reborn. The Nissan Patrol was redesigned from the ground up for 2010, and has been mildly facelifted for 2014. In 2017, the major change was the new V6 engine and no manual option was available. In 2018, everything was pretty much the same. In 2019, the Patrol got a host of new accessories which include fender flares, front and rear diffusers and different roof rails. For 2020,
Design
Exterior
it got a major facelift for the front and back, along with major interior tech upgrades and new exterior colour choices.equipped with LED headlights and daytime running lights you also get halogen fog lights a large grill finish in chrome and piano black dominates the front end of the vehicle moving to the side you have LED turn signals on the side mirrors you also have chrome air vents above the fender we also have running boards to aid in getting on and off the vehicle the Patrol is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels .The design looks a lot more aggressive and the taillights have gotten wider. The Patrol has also received the chrome treatment, but it is a little too excessive. The boxy shape, however, is retained, and the SUV now looks a lot similar to the Infiniti QX80.
Interior
Nissan has followed the new design philosophy on the Patrol that we’ve seen in the company’s urban commuters, especially the crossovers, and its cousins as well. The same can be seen on the inside, too. Nissan has shaved off a lot of buttons and the SUV is more tech-friendly with a dual-screen design taking over the duties. The dual touchscreen design is the new trend wherein the top screen takes care of the infotainment-related needs, whereas the lower screen controls the HVAC and related stuff. The layout overall looks quite sorted and uncluttered with all the non-touch stuff like the buttons, knobs, and dials placed well. The interior now features red upholstery. In fact, all the hide is now red. This complements the dark dashboard and looks quite premium overall.
Performance
The 2020 Patrol offers a 5.6-liter V8 that produces 400 horsepower and a smaller 4.0-liter V6 that churns out 275 horsepower. Both engines get mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and offer seamless, linear power output. Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) and Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) technologies offer effortless performance in every scenario. While an ECO drive mode has been added specifically to the V8 model, Nissan has retained its Hydraulic Body Motion Control (HBMC) suspension for that supple ride we’ve grown to know and love. Being more of a revision than a ground-up development, the 2020 Patrol also retains its off-road prowess with an intelligent 4×4 system and terrain management. When a wheel is spinning or slipping, Helical Limited Slip Differential (LSD) and Locking Rear Differential allow the driver to maintain momentum, even on slippery slopes or roads. Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS) uses sensors from the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to transfer power from a slipping wheel to a wheel with more traction.Hydraulic Body Motion Control maximizes the suspension stroke on off-road running and prevents roll angle to maintain flat riding with high damping force at cornering. This system gives Patrol superb stability on rugged and sandy terrain, while delivering a smooth ride on city streets.
Technology
The intuitive HMI Navigation System and the enhanced Voice Recognition Function, allows communication with the new Patrol throughout the journey. Drivers can also enjoy wireless phone charging in the center console while rear passengers can stay charged up with USB ports. With the rear entertainment system equipped with dual screen and wireless headphone you can have relaxing, enjoyable drive and ease the stress of long trip. 13 perfectly-placed Bose speakers provide a premium audio experience for all passengers. From turn-by-turn directions to safety alerts – even warning you if it senses you need a break – this 7″ color display lays it all right before your eyes, helping to minimize the time you look away.No matter what the temperature is outside, the Patrol features ‘curtain’ air vents that isolate passengers in a zone of cool refreshing air. The Triple or Dual Zone Climate Controls allows passengers in different positions of the vehicle to set the temperature just how they like it. Nissan Patrol’s memory system allows you and another driver to save your preferred position of the driver’s seat, steering wheel, mirrors, multimedia and climate control. The Nissan Intelligent Key allows you to press a button on the door handle or hatch to unlock the doors, while keeping your keys in your pocket or purse. Safety
Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System has dual-stage driver and front passenger supplemental air bags with seat-belt and occupant-classification sensors. PATROL also features front seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags, and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags with rollover sensor for outboard occupant protection for all three rows.Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) sends extra force to the rear brakes when you have additional weight in the vehicle. And when it detects hard braking and senses an emergency situation, Brake Assist (BA) helps you out by applying maximum braking force. When it detects oversteer or understeer, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) can reduce engine power and apply brake pressure to specific wheels.Traction Control System (TCS) can sense wheel slip or spin and responds by instantly helping reduce throttle, helping you maintain control.Traction Control System (TCS) can sense wheel slip or spin and responds by instantly helping reduce throttle, helping you maintain control. When a collision is unavoidable, Nissan’s Zone Body construction helps absorb the impact while the advanced seat belt and airbag systems help protect passengers. When tire pressure is low, PATROL’s Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) illuminates an icon on your dash to let you know.
